Life as we know it…

Some people were having trouble seeing the face in the last photo so I have made an annotated version.

We’ve been recently having a lot of fun poking around and trying to figure out what part of the baby we’re feeling from the outside of Monica’s belly. Rump? Head? Did I just push down on her nose? Hard to say.

Our second high resolution ultrasound very clearly shows we’re having a girl!  Monica was convinced we were having a boy, so now she has lots of reconsidering to do of nursery designs, crib bedding patterns, and I’m sure much else.  Everything looked good in the ultrasound, we saw all the chambers of her heart, her mouth and nose, and lots of little fingers and toes.

She was not cooperating with attempts to get a nice picture of her face, she has her head leaned back and her hands waving around in front!

Because her umbilical cord is one artery short of the usual number, we’ll probably have another hi-rez ultrasound in a couple months to make sure she’s developing normally, but the doctor was emphatic that because everything else looked great, there is no need for concern.  I’ll try to get some new pictures up soon!

I was even able to feel some action, though it could have been a punch.  Very rambunctious.

This one from 15 weeks - Little bugger seems to be upside down.  When we get the next picture we may be finding out the gender!

At about 13 weeks there is a high resolution ultrasound to screen for chromosomal abnormalities.  We had that done before we left for our trip to Belize with the Swansons.  Everything came back all clear, which is great, and we also got a dvd of the sonogram!  I’ve linked to a little excerpt below - I think there is sneezing going on.  Could have gotten that from either of us.

We’ve been to the doctor twice, and everything looks fine so far.  Due date is between June 18th or June 23rd depending on how you calculate it, our OB is calling it as the 22nd now based on the sonograms.  No gender determined yet, no twins, and no names we can agree on, but I am sure we’ll figure it out.
